Mongoose

Mongoose (Herpestes javanicus) imported to Hawaii to control rats in the sugar cane fields, but a failure to realize that they diurnal (daytime) feeders and rats are nocturnal (nighttime) feeders means that the mongoose now feeds on the eggs of endangered birds on the islands. Another imported animal that is now considered "invasive". It has no preditors.
