My wife Barbara has been feeding birds, squirrels and other animals in our backyard for years. We are very lucky that our house backs up to the Vernon Walker Nature Center in Reston, Virginia. It is classified as a Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat. We have an endless supply of birds and animals to entertain us. This also provides continuing subjects for my camera when I can't or don't venture out. I found that providing a "tree" near the feeders attracts birds for predator checks before landing on the feeders.
